Faciotech Completes Hosting Platform Upgrade With Minimal Service Disruption
Faciotech has completed its scheduled hosting upgrade, covering server hardware, platform software, networks and security. No customer action is needed.
ACCRA, Ghana, 8 August 2023. Faciotech has completed the scheduled upgrade of its shared hosting platform. The work covered server hardware, hosting platform software, network infrastructure and security hardening, and was carried out inside announced maintenance windows with minimal disruption to customer websites. Nothing needs to be reconfigured, and no customer action is required.
What was upgraded: hardware, software, network and security
- Server hardware. Components across the hosting fleet were replaced and expanded to raise the amount of processing power and memory available per account. The practical effect is headroom: busy periods that previously pushed a server close to its limits now have more room before anyone notices.
- Hosting platform software. The control panel and the supporting stack were brought up to current stable releases. Staying on supported versions matters beyond features: it is what keeps security fixes arriving in the first place.
- Network infrastructure. Networking equipment and routing were upgraded to improve throughput and resilience, reducing the chance that a single network fault becomes a visible outage.
- Security hardening. Outstanding security patches were applied and system configurations were tightened, closing the gaps that accumulate between scheduled maintenance rounds.
“We did this work while the platform was still healthy, which is the only time it is cheap to do. If you noticed nothing during the maintenance windows and your site now holds its speed at the busiest hours of the day, that is exactly the result we were aiming for.”
Urbanus Azupogo, Founder, Faciotech
What customers should notice
The visible result is a platform that responds faster and fails less often. Pages should load more quickly, particularly on sites with heavier databases or more concurrent visitors, and the platform should hold its performance more steadily under load rather than slowing at peak hours.
Just as important is what has not changed. Websites and mailboxes remain on the same addresses. No DNS records need editing, no passwords need resetting, no settings need re-entering, and no files were moved. Customers who did nothing during the maintenance window and notice nothing now are exactly where they should be.
How the work was carried out
The upgrade was scheduled rather than reactive, which is the difference between a planned improvement and an emergency repair. Work was announced in advance, carried out in defined windows chosen for low traffic, and staged so that only part of the platform was touched at any one time rather than everything at once.
That approach is slower and more work than a single large cutover, and it is deliberately chosen. It keeps the number of customers exposed to any one step small, and it means a step that behaves unexpectedly can be stopped and examined before it affects anyone else.
Checking Faciotech service status yourself
Faciotech publishes live service status at status.faciotech.com, independently of the hosting platform, so it stays reachable during an incident. Planned maintenance is posted there in advance alongside current service state. Customers who want to know whether a problem is on their side or ours should check that page first, which is usually faster than waiting for a reply.
Continued investment and future maintenance
Hosting infrastructure is never finished. Hardware ages, software reaches end of life, traffic patterns shift, and security expectations rise every year, so upgrades of this kind are a recurring commitment rather than a one-off project. Faciotech will continue to invest in the platform on a regular cycle instead of waiting for it to become a problem.
When future maintenance is required, Faciotech will notify affected customers in advance with clear timelines, state plainly what is expected to be affected, and publish progress to the status page while the work is under way.
If something is not right after the upgrade
If you notice anything unexpected on your site, your email or your control panel following this upgrade, report it rather than working around it. Open a support ticket with the affected domain and a description of what you are seeing, and the team will investigate. The support centre lists every other way to reach Faciotech, and step-by-step guides are available in the knowledge base.
